What a week!!!!!!!!!

The week started off pretty normal for us, even though we weren't quite back to 100% after having some kind of cold over the weekend. Wednesday was Daddy Day at Lindsay's playgroup, so Chip worked from home in the morning, and then we all went to playgroup - or what is lovingly referred to at our house as Germ Swap. At Lindsay's age - everything goes in her mouth, or the mouths of all her little friends, so the saliva and germs swapped during the two hour period is mucho mucho!!!! You try to minimize the swapping of mouthed toys, but it is just inevitable. Here are a couple photos of playgroup, as well as one of Lindsay in her cool turtle cap before we left home. This is the only non-pink, baseball style hat she has - so Daddy was excited she was wearing it to Daddy Day at playgroup.

Lindsay enjoyed sitting at the big kids craft table, and doing an obstacle course with her daddy. We are going to have a Daddy Day every other month - so stay tuned for more exciting adventures!!!

This is where the week goes awry. Lindsay had not been sleeping well, but we attributed it to her slight cold from the past weekend. Apparently that was not the problem, as we were up AT LEAST every hour, if not more often, on Wednesday night. It just wasn't that we were awakened, it was how - with ear piercing screams from our child. We think her teeth are coming soon (or at least we hope). After a very sleepless night - Chip was late for work, so Debbie did not get cleaned up before he left, figuring she could grab a shower later in the day. Everyone exhausted, we were making it through the day alright, until the power went off - for almost 7 hours!!! Thanks BVISEC - British Virgin Islands SOMETIMES Electricity Corporation!!!!!! No power, no shower - or heating up food etc. Lindsay's baby food had to be heated on the stove top, and we won't even discuss what Debbie wound up eating for lunch. Let's just say, making a sandwich became very difficult - finding mold on the bread, yucky lettuce, and a questionable expiration date on the lunchmeat. We are still alive, so no harm no foul - but it was not a very enjoyable experience. Chip was having an interesting day too - he was to attend a seminar that afternoon, only to arrive and find they had no power or even a generator. Taking notes in a dark auditorium, from a speaker with no microphone, in dress clothes with no air-conditioning - need I say more. Even funnier was the trip to the bathroom, where he had to feel his way along the wall in the dark to the urinal!!!! You just have to laugh, or else you'd be crying!!!

The power did come back on before dinner, so Lindsay ate and got her bath as usual. I had consulted the family pediatrician (Thanks Deann) for advice for our teething daughter, and Motrin (not Midol as Chip said to be funny - he thought it was hilarious; Lindsay and I - not so much!!!) was recommended to reduce the inflammation of her gums. We gave our girl a dose before bed, and it worked like a charm. We all slept - all night - what a concept!!! That alone made everything seem better on Friday morning. The only positive of the terrible Thursday was I did a photo session with Lindsay when I was grumpy about the power being off. She is in a dress that Charlie's sister Linda gave her, with a cute God Bless Baby blanket, also from Linda.

That's all from the Third World for now, but stay tuned.......................

Look Who's 7 Months Old Today!!!!!!

Lindsay wanted to call everyone to let them know she is 7 months old today, but she couldn't figure out how to use the phone. She did manage at one point to dial in the 913 Kansas
area code - which I thought was slightly funny!!!! So smart already!!!

We were all not feeling so well yesterday, but by this picture you could not tell that Lindsay feels bad at all!!! She loves playing on her own little boat - and it is one place I can set her without worrying she will take off in less than a minute. That's right - she is not crawling yet - but she is a speedy roller and scooter now!!!

She also has fallen in love with Malibu. Here are some pictures of their interactions. Malibu is very patient with Lindsay - whisker pulling and all!!!! They are so cute together!!!

Funny story - I asked Chip to get a wipe to clean Lindsay's hands after the Malibu lick session, and he comes back with a Clorox wipe instead of a baby wipe!!! He knew I wanted the wipe to remove the doggy germs - and I guess he thought that meant we needed to Clorox wipe the kid!! Glad we cleared that up while I was home, versus me finding out later that he had cleaned up the child with the kitchen counter wipes!!!!

We can't believe it has been 7 months already!!! Our little "squirt" has, and is, growing so fast. Soon she will be crawling and then walking - and we think we are busy now!!! She was fussy at bedtime tonight - and Chip is worried about if she has a meltdown on the plane when we travel in May. Hopefully that won't happen, otherwise it may be awhile before we get Chip to travel with us on an airplane again!!! We also think her teeth are on their way - we'll keep you posted!!!!

Good night and sweet dreams my 7 month old girl!!! We love you so much!!!

Beach Baby

Lindsay and I met up with some friends at the beach today. There were 4 moms and 6 kids (all under age 3) in our group. Lindsay still is not too happy about the ocean water temperature - so we just played with her cups in the sand!!!! She had a great time!!!! Thanks again Aunt Deann for the outfit she's wearing in the photos!!!!

I also have to comment that this is the first time, I, Debbie, have done the blog and photo downloading entirely by myself!!!! Woo hoo!!! That means the blog will get updated more often now since I don't have to ask Chip questions anymore!!!!! YEAH!!!! We hope everyone is having a great day - my dad said it was sleeting in Kansas City today - so our 80 degrees and sunny is sounding pretty great!!! Remember - visitors always welcome - the beach awaits you too!!!!

Ahoy Mate!!

Captain Lindsay took her first boat trip in the BVI today. Grandma and Grandpa DeWitt are currently visiting from Kansas City, so we thought a boat trip was in order. Joe from Patouche Charters (www.patouche.com) took all of us out on their Sea Ray - a 44' sport yacht by the name of Oil And Water. We left Road Town and headed to the North Sound of Virgin Gorda and stopped at Saba Rock for a bit of lunch (they make GREAT tacos - if you're ever in the BVI, we highly recommend a trip to Saba Rock. It's a bit out of the way, but definitely worth the effort to get there). On the way, we cruised by Necker Island (an island owned by Virgin Airlines' Richard Branson - if you can afford $40,000 a night, you too can enjoy your very own island all to yourself) and then down the coast of Virgin Gorda on the way home, stopping to check out Little Dix, a five-star resort, and the world famous Baths of Virgin Gorda. Along the way, Lindsay said she needed a turn at the helm.....

And what better way to relax after a long boat ride than to sit back and enjoy an ice cold..............................

Uh-oh, looks like Lindsay's not quite sure when to say "when"!!!!..................Oh well, nothing a quick nap won't cure.

And of course no boat trip would be complete without a few cuddles with Mommy on the way home...........

Thanks again Joe and Patouche Charters - we had a blast!!!!!

Lindsay's Big Moves

Well, it's been a while since we posted and there are certainly a few things to report, not the least of which is that Lindsay is now sleeping in her own room!!!! Last Friday was her first night in her room. It was also a big night for Chip as it was his first time to do some hardcore babysitting. Debbie went out for a night on the town with a few friends; so Chip and Lindsay spent Friday night playing couch potatoes. Friday night did get off to an interesting start, though. Chip went to change Lindsay into her pajamas so Debbie could feed her before heading out for dinner. Debbie noticed something a little funny about Linday's outfit, though, while she was feeding her. Soemthing didn't look quite right.........hmmm............um, that tag is usually on the other sleeve.................errr, Daddy!!!!!

You put my pajamas on backwards!!!!!!!!!!

Oops! Fortunately, the rest of the evening went smoothly. Here's the Peanut playing in her crib.

In other news, Lindsay has graduated from her newborn bathtub and is now taking her baths in the tub in her new tubring. She was wasn't very fond of the tubring the first time or two, but now she puts up with it without much of a fuss. Hopefully over the next couple of weeks, she'll really start to like it and become a splash-a-holic during bathtime. Bathtime at the Harris house is always family event. Malibu refuses to be left out of the action - see below!

Of course, if Lindsay can't squeeze in a bath one day, she can just wear daddy's hat......
